The East•West•Middle is a forum devoted to commentary about international security, international relations and the Middle East from a US, European and Middle Eastern perspective. This blog serves a dual purpose: it hosts an ongoing conversation about current affairs and important geo-political issues while also serving as a teaching tool for the student of international relations, conflict management and international security, through a special emphasis on concepts and theories relevant to the larger IR discipline. By linking theories and concepts of IR and related fields to ongoing news stories and current events, it is hoped that the various contributions on this site can serve as a tool for a greater understanding of the link between theory and practice for students interested in international relations, social science, conflict management, and the Middle East.
